COBDEN and district residents now have access to a “top-class” gym facility.
The new gym, which adjoins the Rodney Grove Community Aquatic Centre, opened earlier this month.
Fitness centre manager Lee Edge said existing equipment and fitness/exercise activities have been moved to the new facility.
However, she said new programs and membership packages would be announced in the new year.
“Users will be able to choose between a combined pool/gym use, or separate pool or gym use only,” Ms Edge said.
“There will be casual charges or longer-term charges to suit everyone.”
Cobdenhealth successfully applied for funding under the State Government Pick My Project initiative, with a grant provided to purchase new equipment for the centre.
“Even though successful projects have been announced there is still a lot to go through with paperwork before we get a funding agreement with the government and are able to start spending,” Ms Edge said.
“We expect to complete the Gym Fit project early in the new year. The major opening and full launch of the facility will happen then.”
Featuring a number of spaces, including a dedicated cardio room, spin room and space for classes all fitness levels will be catered for.
Ms Edge encouraged interested residents to drop into the fitness centre and look around, as well as discuss their needs.
“Cobden now has a top-class facility to assist all ages and abilities to keep fit and stay well,” she said.
