250 games for Dan
BOORCAN Cricket Club stalwart Daniel Boyle took to the pitch for his 250th club game last weekend.

BOORCAN Cricket Club stalwart Daniel Boyle took to the pitch for his 250th club game last weekend.
Playing for the Dragons’ division two side, Boyle finished the day with a creditable 1/40 off eight overs – but wasn’t so successful with the bat according to brother and team coach Lachie.
“Dan had a great day with the ball – as he always does – but not so much with the bat; I think he only made a couple of runs,” Lachie said.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t get the win for him on the day but he really played his part and to notch up 250 games is a great effort; we’re all very proud of him.
“Dan is a great off-spin bowler who has a real cricket brain. He certainly makes my job easier – I can just give him the ball and tell him to set the field.
“Over the last 15 years or so he has been a wicket keeper, batsman and an all round bowler. Not only is he valued on the field but also off it; he’s a great clubperson and has many friends at Boorcan.”
Reflecting on his time at the club, Dan said the Dragons had become somewhat of an “extended family.”
“It’s a great club and I honestly wouldn’t consider playing elsewhere. With Lachie as coach and my younger brother Noah also playing here, we have a great time both on and off the field,” Dan said.
“Last Saturday was certainly a special day for me. A win would have been the icing on the cake but Princetown is a quality side and we can all see why they have been sitting at the top or towards the top of the ladder for so long.
“We made 191 runs which was a pretty good effort against such a quality line-up on a relatively small ground. I’m looking forward to what the rest of the season brings.”
