A fun day out for sewists
SEWISTS across the district are being invited to enjoy a day of craft and community at the Camperdown Clocktower Quilters’ annual Cancer Sit and Sew this Saturday.
The Camperdown Golf Club rooms will be awash with craft between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, May 16 (tomorrow) for the event, which will also see raffles on the day.
Camperdown Clocktower Quilters secretary and treasurer Carol Wilson said the $20 admission fee will include entry into the raffles as well as morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
“It’s a great get-together for all the sewers in the district,” she said.
“Last year we raised around $600, so if we could do that again, it’ll be great.
“We had some members of our club who died from cancer a few years back, and we decided we should do something each year to raise a bit of money for researchers to find out what’s causing this ghastly disease.
“If anyone’s interested in coming up, having a sit and sew and enjoying some nice food and company, that’s what I’d suggest they do.
“We’d love to see as many people as possible.”
