A fun way to mark a milestone
RESIDENTS were decked out in some very interesting outfits last week as they helped to celebrate a milestone in a fun way.
Infinite Health Co held a special dress-up day, with the theme being ‘anything but your workout gear’, as part of marking the 10th anniversary of the gym opening.
Co-owner Melissa Pitman said the dress-up day saw very strong support wuth gym regulars decked out in various outfits.
“It was for everybody for the whole morning – so from our Pilates classes to our 6am classes, our 9am classes and all our regulars, everyone got dressed up,” she said.
“It was a really good, fun way to celebrate the fact it’s a really good little community gym.
“We had everything from a beekeeper through to a gardener.
“I wore my old horse-riding gear – so full boots and helmet.
“There were plenty of pyjamas, so people just didn’t get out of their pyjamas and came straight to the gym.”
The gym even saw a Cookie Monster and a Superman onesie on show.
Ms Pitman said there was strong enthusiasm from gym attendees when the idea was floated the week before.
“I talked to everyone the week before and let them know what was going on, and the general response was ‘oh cool, I’ll do that’ or ‘oh, I know exactly what I’m going to do’,” she said.
“Even the people who get here at 6am and have to go straight to work loved it.
“It reinforces the fact that we’re just a real community-oriented gym and everyone feels comfortable to come dressed up as something silly.
“There’s no pressure to be – no-one’s looking at what you’re doing, everyone’s just here for movement and enjoyment.
“People will come back if they feel like they’ve got friends here that’ll do stuff with them.”
Ms Pitman expressed her gratitude towards everyone who took part in the dress-up day, with many smiles around.
“We’re really grateful for the community of people we have here in our members and class participants, and both Nick (Hose, Infinite Health Co co-owner) and I are really grateful for the community’s support for the gym,” she said.
