Accolades continue for Wareham
MORTLAKE’S Georgia Wareham has continued her success on the international cricket arena, named Australia’s ‘Player of the Match’ in its opening T20 World Cup clash with South Africa.

Wareham made an impressive 32 runs from 22 deliveries and took 3/13 in Australia’s 65-run win last Sunday morning (AEST).
Chasing Australia’s 8-172, South Africa collapsed to be all out for 107 in 16.4 overs.
The opening round of the Australian women’s T20 World Cup campaign was held at Old Trafford (Manchester).
Speaking to media after last weekend’s match, Wareham said with Australia’s batting line-up, she knew she could play with confidence and freedom.
“Phoebe (Litchfield) was awesome and top scored with 50, and it was a good all-round performance by the team,” Wareham said.
“We are versatile as a bowling line-up as well; we know we are good at keeping it tight and keeping it on the stumps.”
Wareham’s performance against South Africa also included a run-out (with an accurate throw from deep) and a smart low catch at cover.
Australia’s second match was against Bangladesh last night (Wednesday).
