AFL legend visits Terang

TEENAGER Jordie Bailey was last week given the chance to hone his footy skills during a one-on-one clinic with former AFL great, Jordan Roughead.
Thirteen year-old Jordie was the lucky winner of the ‘Connect with a Legend’ promotion which entitled him to a training session with Roughead and a six month online mentoring program.
Jordie, who is an under 14 premiership player with the Terang Mortlake Bloods, was “stoked” to win the competition and said he found the one-on-one session “great.”
He shared his training session with Roughead with two friends, Charlie Kenna and Max Heffernan.
“It was a really good session and I’m keen to see how far I can go with my football, but in the meantime I just want to try to upgrade my skill level,” Jordie said.
During his visit to Terang last week, Roughead – a former player with the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood – said he loved his time with both clubs and would remain at Collingwood in 2023 as the opposition and development coach.
“In my new role next season I’ll be watching a lot of football and will need to be about three weeks ahead of who Collingwood plays so I can inform our coaches of the opposition threats, game plays and what the team needs to be aware of and prepared for,” Roughead said.
“It’s great to be able to give back to grass roots clubs like Terang Mortlake.
“The ground and facilities were great and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back in this way.”
