Art flairs inherited
ARTISTIC talent has spread across three generations of a Terang family.
ARTISTIC talent has spread across three generations of a Terang family.
Terang’s Ann Harris, her mother Cath Duynhoven and her daughter Alara have launched an exhibition of their work at the Little Acorn Cafe in Terang.
“The exhibition came about by accident,” she said.
“Initially, Alara was asked to display her works throughout June, but due to her selling most of her pieces she didn’t have enough to fill the space.”
“Jennifer O’Keeffe, who organises the artists, asked if I would like to share the exhibition with Alara. As a proud mum, I was thrilled to do so.”
Ms Harris said while her mother was not an active artist, it was logical to include her old works alongside the other works.
“Mum doesn’t paint anymore, but over the years has produced a lot of beautiful work on canvas, milk cans and wooden items,” she said.
“She had recently given me a couple of her paintings, so I asked if I could include them on the condition they are not for sale.
“She was thrilled to be included and so now our art hangs proudly together at the Little Acorn Cafe where you can sit by a warm open fire, enjoy a coffee and delicious food while viewing the diverse range of art on display.”
Alara said she was “very lucky” to have received her grandmother’s and mother’s artistic skills passed down to her.
“It was very special to be able to share the space with my Mum and Oma (grandmother) and to be able to display the talent passed down through the generations,” she said.
