Author visits Noorat Primary
STUDENTS let their imaginations soar when a popular author visited the school recently.

The classroom was filled with laughter and curiosity when the school received a visit from Susea Spray, a former classroom teacher who found acclaim after penning her ‘A Big Blue Boat’ series which was inspired by her real-life adventures sailing around the world with her husband.
Students from Nullawarre and District Primary School and Cudgee Primary School also joined in on the visit as part of efforts to form connections across the Great South West Coast Network of Government Schools.
Noorat Primary School principal Ilona Watkins said the opportunity to connect students from different schools while learning more about literature was a highlight.
“We love the many opportunities we can provide to our students at Noorat,” she said.

“Our annual author visit is always a highlight.
“The opportunity to listen to, ask questions and chat with an author inspires students to think about their own writing journey.”
The visit was part of the school’s Mobile Area Resource Centre (MARC) Van program, which introduces students to high-quality texts and builds a passion for reading
Every year a different author is welcomed into the school to help expand knowledge, skills and author secrets.
MARC teacher Megan Janes said the visits gave students a greater insight into the books they love.
“It’s a fabulous opportunity to be able to bring authors to our students in an environment where they can ask questions and truly connect,” she said.
