Bin theft leaves club disappointed

THE Camperdown Angling Club has expressed disappointment after their recycling bin of cans and bottles was taken from their clubrooms at Lake Bullen Merri.

The club collects cans and bottles to donate to community groups in Camperdown, with the club seeking any information from the community to its whereabouts.

Angling Club member Ian (surname withheld on request) said the club believes the bin was removed in the morning on Sunday, May 31

“The whole bin and its contents were removed from the front of the clubrooms,” he said.

“We don’t know anything else.

“There were people who hired the clubrooms over the weekend and they left at 9am on Sunday morning.

“I went up there at midday and the bin wasn’t there.

“The chaps who were there said it was definitely there when they left.”

Ian said the club was disappointed by the loss of the recycling bin.

“To say we are disappointed by this unbelievably low act would be an understatement,” he said.

“Someone’s decided they needed it more than us.

“It’s disappointing to see that someone decided they had better use for the empty cans than we did.

“I thought someone may have taken it and emptied it to their own purpose and then brought the bin back at a later date, but that never happened.”

The club is encouraging anyone who knows the whereabouts of the bin to contact them on 0147 207 400.
