Bombers struggle on boggy ground
WET, muddy conditions made the going tough for Cobden’s senior footballers last weekend.

WET, muddy conditions made the going tough for Cobden’s senior footballers last weekend.
Heavy rain during the reserves match at Camperdown on Saturday made for tough conditions in the senior game, according to Bombers coach Dan Casey.
“There was quite a bit of rain during the ressies which made the ground pretty chopped up and boggy for the seniors,” he said.
“We were certainly happy to take the four points but the game wasn’t a pretty one byany means."
“It was actually pretty ordinary. We were able to get the ball out of the back line okay but down the ground we seemed to be kicking straight to the opposition."
“We had a lot of turnovers and that’s something we need to work on.”
Casey said while he felt his side certainly “didn’t play great coming off the bye” they would have a big training session this week and go into this weekend’s match against Port Fairy better equipped.
“After this weekend we’ve got a pretty tough run home so we need to make sure we win the ones we can.”
Final scores on Saturday were Cobden 9.7.61 defeated Camperdown 6.9.45.
Best for the Bombers were Christian Koroneos, Zac Green, Sam Thow, Matthew Kemp, Ryleigh McVilly and Louis Cahill.
Goals went to Jack Hutt (4), Thomas Spokes (2), Ryleigh McVilly, Paul Pekin and Luke Smith.
In the reserves, Cobden took the win over Camperdown 13.13.91 to 2.5.17.
Best for the Bombers were Joe Hutt, Brenton Flemming, Harrison Herschell, Samuel Clarke, Noah Mungean and Jack Darcy.
Goal kickers were Harrison Herschell (3), James McLeod (3), Jia Anderson (2), Steven Fisher (2), Jake Evans, Brenton Flemming and Nick Kemp.
