Bostock’s Creek community supports Cancer Council
BOSTOCK’S Creek Hall committee secretary and treasurer Rhikki-Lee Coverdale hosted her first ever Biggest Morning Tea on Sunday, May 24, raising $3615 for the Cancer Council in the process.
Mrs Coverdale said she was blown away with the support for her first ever hosting of the event.
“I was absolutely stoked about how many people turned up to support this event and help raise money for Cancer Council,” she said.
“Over 90 people attended, which is incredible.
“The goal I submitted was only to raise $500, which we ended up blowing that out of the park.
“We had people from Queensland, New South Wales and those in the local area all donate to this fundraiser so it sure makes your heart feel full when everyone comes together for a great cause.
“When everyone was leaving, I kept getting thanked about holding the event – it was a great community get together and people were able to catch up and chat to others they haven’t seen in ages.”
Mrs Coverdale said there were a wide range of stall holders and prizes which made the event bigger than she could have ever imagined.
“The hall was full and also the tables and chairs outside were occupied with the overflow,” she said.
“There were 15 silent auction items that made a total of $845 to go into the cancer fund.
“There were over 20 raffle items that had items to suit everyone.
“There were 20 door prizes, which were absolutely adorable teddy bear face washers.”

A variety of games and challenges took place throughout the event, contributing to the fundraising total.
“A hidden cups game saw the two closest winners going home with a cheese cutting board and set,” Mrs Coverdale said.
“The lolly jar guessing game had a great amount of guesses with the winner being Sophia Huth.
“The Greatest Baker winner was Elyse Meade with her sponge roll and the runner up was Theres Drake.
“Located under two chairs within the hall were two winners – I was worried about people getting hurt doing this, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and nobody caused an injury.”
Mrs Coverdale said the biggest question she received since running the event was if she’s going to run it again next year.
“I would love to hold it yearly, but would need to make sure we get a few extra helping hands to hold the event again, as it was a lot of work for my family,” she said.
“I hope others within the local shire also have great success with their Biggest Morning Tea, as I see a few more popping up with advertisement.
“It’s also a great way to show the community that the old Bostock's Creek Hall is available to hire for particular events, especially now with it getting the new kitchen finalised.
“I would like to thank all our family, friends, community members and businesses who donated food, prizes and money to this great event.”
