Bowlers headed to state finals
HEYTESBURY indoor bowlers will be represented at the state finals, with its mens’ fours team booking a place at the Warrnambool competition in August.

The team of Allen Armistead (s), Peter Baker, Peter Neal and Scott Pierce made it through to the final after a successful performance at VIBBA last weekend.
They will play the Warrnambool side of Brendan Keane (s), Les Clarke, Ian Swain and Russell Kerr.
Also in the men’s fours last weekend, Ash Quick played with a mainly Warrnambool team and made it to the quarter finals but couldn’t get past Travis Hedger’s Ballarat side.
In the men’s pairs, Justin Rasmussen and Scott Pierce and Brett Mungean and Brendan Keane had first round losses.
Allen Armistead and Peter Baker made it through to the second round but that’s where their journey ended.
Arthur Finch and Noah Mungean made it to the quarter finals where they were defeated by Ian Swain and Les Clarke (Warrnambool/Waaia).
In division one, Glenormiston 1 was home to Timboon Lawn 2 and the home team hit the ground running, while the visitors couldn’t quite get into the match.
Glenormiston 1 def. Timboon Lawn 2, 28-8.
Timboon Lawn 1 was home to Mepunga 1 and the visitors hit the ground running, getting out to a 13 shot lead until the home side started to fight back.
By end 15, the deficit was only four shots with three ends to play.
Timboon Lawn 1 lost to Mepunga 1, 19-21.
The third division one match saw Cobden 1 defeated by Camperdown 1, 18-26 while Laang-Ecklin defeated Camperdown 2, 22-16.
The top four this week are Glenormiston 1, Mepunga 1, Timboon Lawn 1 and Timboon Lawn 2.
In division two, Cobden 2 defeated Scotts Creek 3, 18-14 while Mepunga 2 held off a fast-finishing Simpson, 17-15.
In the battle of the Glenormiston’s, 3 lost to 2, 12-21, while Mepunga 3 defeated Timboon Lawn 3, 26-9.
The top four this week are Mepunga 3, Mepunga 2, Glenormiston 2 and Cobden 2.
In division three pennant, Scotts Creek 2 lost to Mepunga 4, 17-26 while Peterborough defeated Cobden 3, 19-17 for their second win of the season.
The division three ladder this week: Mepunga 4, Cobden 3, Scotts Creek 2 and Peterborough.

Last Thursday, long-time Heytesbury member Jim Mungean passed away surrounded by family.
Jim was a true gentleman and very supportive of those around him.
He always had a bit of mischief about him and loved talking footy.
