Camperdown wins Forbes Cup

FOR the fourth time since 2017, a Camperdown Golf Club women’s team has won the prestigious Forbes Cup.

The competition was held at the Chalambar Golf Club in Ararat.

This year, Camperdown’s sole representative team comprised Ros Brauer (10) nett 70, Jenny Hillman (25) 68, Deb Narik (26) 84 and Doreen Horan (30) 73.

They won with a nett aggregate score of 295 points, just one point ahead of Eastern on 296.

The next best scores were Ballarat 309 and Chalambar 2 on 311 points.

The team also had individual winners on the day.

Ros Brauer won the A grade scratch with a score of 80.

Jenny Hillman won B grade scratch with 93 and Doreen Horan was runner-up in the C grade handicap.

Last Wednesday’s competition at Camperdown was a stroke round for the June women’s monthly medal and putting competition.

Terri Sinnott (22) was the winner with a nett 78 and Doreen Horan (26) was runner-up with 82.

Heather Cameron was awarded a ball down the line.

The putting competition was won by Jenny Hillman with 34 putts.

Jenny was also nearest the pin on the 9th (second shot).

Heather Cameron had the closest second shot on the 16th green and Terri Sinnott was nearest on the 17th hole.

Next week will be a stableford competition.
