Cath Jenkins concedes
CORANGAMITE Shire Council is expected to see all previously councillors re-elected after the lone challenger at this year’s election offered her concession last week.

Tandarook Ward challenger Cath Jenkins took to social media last week to acknowledge her campaign, the lone challenger to an incumbent councillor across Corangamite Shire’s seven wards, appeared to be unsuccessful.
Mrs Jenkins posted a statement on her campaign’s social media acknowledging early results had led her to conclude she would not be elected when ballots are officially counted later this week.
“Based on the VEC vote count, it appears I have not been successful in my campaign for the Corangamite Shire elections,” she said.
“The results will be finalised, once final counts are completed, with official announcements set for next Thursday (November 7).
“While I am disappointed the results didn’t go my way, I am incredibly grateful for the experience I have had. From the start my goal was to offer a choice for the community, and I achieved this.
“I was motivated to contribute to this great region that we live in and though I won’t be on the council, I will continue to work with local communities and in my other roles contributing to positive future of the Corangamite region.”
Mrs Jenkins said she had no regrets in her decision to stand for council, and was proud of the campaign she had run.
“It was a wonderful experience, meeting and talking with so many different members of our community,” she said.
“Thank you to everyone who spoke to me and shared their thoughts, ideas and concerns with me.
“It has been great to see so much engagement, interest and passion for our region and its people.
“I appreciate the incredible support and encouragement I have had from people of the Tandarook Ward and the broader Corangamite Shire, thank you.”
Mrs Jenkins thanked her family and friends for their support during her council tilt, in addition to offering congratulations to incumbent councillor Jo Beard for what is expected to be a successful re-election.
“This has kept me grounded, positive and enabled me to stay focused on my goal, regardless of the outcome,” she said.
“Congratulations to Jo Beard as she continues on for another four year term as our local councillor.
“I admire Jo for her commitment and dedication to council and I wish her all the best.
“I am looking forward to seeing our region thrive and rest assured I will be continuing to support our community in every way I can.
“Let’s keep working together.”
