The inaugural Lismore Midwinter Festival saw a variety of different activities over the course of the weekend.

Lismore Progress Association president Val Lang said the event saw strong community engagement across the various activities.

“Lismore Progress Association committee was delighted with the support given to the Lismore Mid-Winter Festival,” she said.

“The local volunteer input was immense, including the Lions Club barbecue, Country Fire Authority (CFA) presence and Derrinallum Progress Association with welcome packages.

“Enthusiastic groups attended the Birds in Lismore discussion and the town walk, and around 250 people attended the fireworks display.

“Other activities which livened up the festival included face painting, light twirling and line dancing.

“The fireworks were thanks to HD Production, Mitch Prewett and his team of fellow volunteers.”

Lismore Recreation Reserve committee member Shari McConachy praised the event.

“The fireworks were fantastic – the organisers did a brilliant job,” she said.

“The whole atmosphere was welcoming, and our town facilities were perfect for a large event like this.”

The town walk saw walkers begin from Lismore’s Presbyterian Church and visit a number of historical sites within Lismore, learning more about the town’s history.

The main event on Saturday also saw children able to view and board the vehicles of Lismore’s emergency service units, raffles and lucky dips running and a local business selling a variety of hot food and desserts alongside the Lismore and District Lions Club’s free barbecue.
