Celebrating heroes
MORTLAKE College students celebrated the heroes who inspire them as part of a special fundraiser for the final day of school last week.

Students enjoyed a day of dressing up last Friday as part of a house fundraiser.
The theme for this year’s fundraiser was Superhero Day, with a gold coin donation from those taking part to be donated to The Royal Children’s Hospital.
Mortlake College assistant principal Anne De Manser said the students put a lot of work into their costumes, supporting their peers in organising a successful fundraiser.
“They did such a great job in supporting the Succeed house fundraiser,” she said.
“Every year our three houses each host a fundraiser.
“Endeavour house held the Relay for Life event earlier this year, and Succeed house thought superheros would be fitting for their cause.”
Mrs De Manser said she was pleased to see how many students had taken a creative interpretation of the term ‘superheroes’ and had dressed up as nurses, farmer, Country Fire Authority volunteers and parents.
“This was about reflecting on who makes a difference in people’s lives,” she said.
“It wasn’t about superheroes, as such, but about who is a hero to the students.”
