LOCALS took the chance to check in on each other at an R U OK? Day event at Camperdown Community House.

Held last Thursday, about 30 people took time to enjoy the company of fellow residents while enjoying a cuppa, music and a chat.

Camperdown Community House volunteer Liz Casey said she was pleased with the attendance across the day.

“People have said it was a good idea,” she said.

“It’s good to recognise mental health issues in the community.

“People enjoyed the local music and we even had an original song performed.”

Ms Casey said a diverse group of people within the community attended the R U OK? Drop in day.

Mental health support is available through Beyond Blue at 1300 22 4636 and Lifeline on 13 11 14.

If you or someone you know is in crisis and needs help now, call Triple Zero (000).
