Close results for round two
ROUND two of Terang Table Tennis Association’s 2025 season saw some close matches, with narrow wins to Saints and Timo Mania.
With subs playing, there is yet to be a clear indication of which teams are the ones to beat for the premiership.
The Saints v TIC went down to the last match to decide the result, with the Saints opening their account with a 6-5 win.
Callum McSween dominated for the Saints, winning his three singles and both doubles, one in the fifth game and the other in the fourth.
Ron Cook wore down fill-in player Harrison Smith after coming from two games to nil down to runaway in the deciding fifth game.
For TIC both Colin Venn and Tyler Smith won two singles.
Timo Mania, after two rounds, is the only undefeated team winning 7-4 against Youngsters.
Both teams had a player from the bye side ‘I Don’t Care’ that helped impact the result.
Trevor McDowell won his three singles and a doubles with fill-in player Mark Smith (winning two) and a doubles with Michael Pearson.
Tony Young won two singles with Vesha Chapagai and fill-in Pat Nicholson, winning a singles for the Youngsters.
Ladder: Timo Mania 8, TIC 4, Saints 4, I Don’t Care 4, Youngsters 0.
