Costly third term for Magpies
CAMPERDOWN’S senior footballers had their second loss of the season, going down 14.8.92 to 7.12.54 against Warrnambool at the Reid Oval.

“I felt like we were really in it, we had our chances and it was a winnable game,” Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas lamented.
After trailing by eight points at quarter time, Camperdown outscored Warrnambool in the second and fourth quarters.
It was the third term, where Warrnambool kicked eight goals three to Camperdown’s three behinds, that ultimately proved the difference in the game.
“We had plenty of forward entries and dominated the first eight minutes of the third quarter but couldn't capitalise,” Thomas said.
“Warrnambool then got a goal and the floodgates opened for a bit.”
Under 18 player Aidan Conheady made his senior debut, kicking three goals and was named in the best for the Magpies – Thomas liking what he saw.
“Aidan was fantastic, he’s an excitement machine, a raking left foot kick.
“It was a great debut.”
Thomas said Conheady had been on the Magpies’ radar all through pre-season.
“With our recent injuries we had to bring him in a week or two earlier than planned, but he showed he was ready to go.”
Defenders Luke O'Neil and Riley Arnold were best for Camperdown.
“Luke and Riley are just fantastic week in, week out, both boys really firm up our back half.”
A big challenge awaits this week, an away fixture against reigning premiers South Warrnambool.
