Six tankers responded to the incident at a Johnstones Road property in Weerite at around 12noon.

CFA District 6 assistant chief fire officer Craig Brittain said the cause of the fire was unknown, but the fire was brought under control quickly by attending units.

“They didn’t even require the firefighting aircraft in the end because they had it rounded up with the brigades they had,” he said.

“The volunteers leave their homes, work and families to render assistance to the community and do what they do well.

“I appreciate what they do, the CFA appreciates what they do, and the community should be thankful for their actions.”

The incident was declared safe at 1.56pm.
