Crucial win for the Tigers

WOORNDOO Mortlake has scored a crucial 10 point win, 11.10.76 to 10.6.66, in round seven of the Mininera and District senior football competition.

“It was a very ordinary game, but good to get away with a scrappy win against another finals contender,” Woorndoo Mortlake coach Isaac Templeton said.

The match at the Macarthur Recreation Reserve was even throughout, the Tigers getting the better of the Eagles with a four goal to two last quarter.

“Both teams had as much play as each other in the last quarter, we just converted a few more chances than they did,” Templeton said.

James Coghlan West kicked five goals for the Tigers, with Otto Opperman, Matt Pemberton and Kane Killen best in what Templeton described as a very even team performance.

This week sees the Mininera league have a break for the long weekend, Woorndoo Mortlake returning on June 14 against ladder leaders Ararat.

“We’ll take this week off training to freshen up and will look forward to the big test against Ararat; it’s one we’re keen to really show up for,” Templeton said.
