The 14.6.90 to 11.14.80 win at the Timboon Recreation Reserve sees the Demons in fifth place on the ladder with three wins and three losses.

“The first two quarters were some of the purest, cleanest footy we’ve played in my time at the club,” Timboon coach Andrew Hargreaves said.

“Everything was clicking, we were strong in the contest, our run, our speed and our spread was just too strong for them.

“And then we just stopped, we pretty much went to sleep.”

Ahead by 44 points at three-quarter time, Kolora-Noorat kicked five goals and four behinds in the final term to the Demons no score.

“I wasn’t worried that they were going to win the game, I was just more concerned with the way we were playing the game.

“We even said at three-quarter time that we needed to get our hands back on the footy, and we just didn’t.”

While disappointed with the fadeout, Hargreaves was pleased with how the Demons had played earlier in the match.

“The way we finished was very concerning, but very pleased with how we played in the first two quarters.

“That’s exactly how we want to play footy, and it shows that when we play that way, we’re going to be very hard to stop.”

Josh Worboys, who has been playing in defence in 2026, was swung forward and kicked four goals, with Tarkyn Love kicking three.

“Josh was our leading goal kicker last year, he’s been playing great footy in defence, but I just thought with Kolora-Noorat being a bit smaller down back and not quite as big up forward like other sides, that it was a good chance to have him and Tarkyn in the same forward line this week.

“He had a few looks at goal, he played well up there, while Tarkyn’s just a strong target with strong hands, he’s been a good recruit for us.”

Lyndon Alsop and Jack McGlade were Timboon’s best in the win.

“Lyndon and Jack were really strong down back all day, especially the first half, nothing could get past them.

“They’re just very good one-on-one defenders, and then they’re very good on the offensive side of the ball once we win possession.”

Mitch Wallace and Ollie Delaney were also in the best for the Demons.

“Mitch and Ollie Delaney played well on the ball, especially that first half when we were up and going.

“Our midfield lowered its colors in the second half, but they both played good games when we were on top.”

Under 18.5 player Jhyce Bartlett became the latest Timboon player to make his senior debut on Saturday.

“Jhyce is a really good winger, holds his width well, and he got on the end of one from holding his width, received a handball and kicked a goal.

“He didn’t look out of place at all.”

This week the Demons face a tough test, hosting an unbeaten Russells Creek at the Timboon Recreation Reserve.

“They’ve always tested us, they’ve got a really strong midfield and a big forward line, so they’ve been the side that’s always challenged us with the group that they’ve got.

“It’s at home, we play better footy at home, it’ll be good to see where we’re at with them.”

The reserves match saw Timboon score a big 82 point win, 14.8.92 to 1.4.10.

Martin Angus, Henry Stansfield and Zack Lenehan were best for the Demons, with Angus bagging nine goals and Tyler Thorburn three.

Timboon’s under 18.5 team, also coached by Hargreaves, had a 5.10.40 to 4.4.28 win.

“It was a good game of footy, an absolute old-fashioned scrap, they’ve got some really quick, skillful players that have played a lot of senior footy.

“We just went back to being real physical and made it an absolute scrap for the first half, and then hopefully our game, the way we play footy, would get them in the second half, which it did.”

Jalen Berry, Caius Cuthell and Rory Roberts were best in the win, with a goal each to Noah Clark, Logan Lyne, Henry Delaney, Jalen Berry and Riley Chamberlain.

There was no under 16 game with Kolora-Noorat not fielding a team in that grade in 2026.

In the under 13.5 game, Timboon had a 5.10.40 to 2.0.12 win.

Jack McKenzie, Baylie Turner and Lenny Oates were the Demons best, with Turner, Nicholas Whitehead, Harry Salmon, Rory Hollick and Xavier Richardson kicking a goal each.
