The club held its annual presentation day last weekend, with Dianne Robertson named winner of the Merv Suhan Clubperson of the Year award.

She was presented with her trophy by Terry Suhan and Bev Carey in recognition of all the work Dianne does behind the scenes with floral arrangements, raffles and much more.

Each year the Suhan family recognises members who have put in the ‘hard yards’ behind the scenes – in memory of past member Merv Suhan who was a stalwart of the Mortlake Bowls Club and who did a lot of the behind-the-scenes things that needed to be done for quite a long time.

During the afternoon, the club also inducted its newest life member, Val Smith.

Val has held the positions of president and secretary, and is also an outstanding bowler who never gives up – as was evident in her pairs match with Jackie Grant.

Other awards presented last weekend included:

Club fours champions – Anthony Wood (s), Les Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Alan Wood.

Runners-up Colin Goldsworthy (s), Barry Killen, Sandra Richie and Maddi Goldsworthy.

Mixed pairs champions – Les Johnson (s) and Ann Johnson; runners-up Peter Beardsley (s) and Glenice Kenna.
