Secretary Delia Kerr said the photo had been at the society for a “very long time” and members were interested in finding out more information about the man in the photo.

“He was in the paper years ago and no one claimed him,” she said.

“We don’t know when we got this photo – it’s been here forever.

“I’ve had him at the entrance when people come in and I’ve put him on Facebook but no one has claimed him.

“We’d love to know who he is and then we could do a story about him for our next Anzac display.”

Members of the society have speculated on when the soldier in the photo could have served, but are ultimately unsure.

“We think he’s from the First World War because he’s got the rising sun on the collar and the hat,” Mrs Kerr said.

“We don’t know what service he was in because he doesn’t have a slouch hat, he’s got a peaked hat, and I don’t know anything about any of that.

“Maybe Air Force, but I don’t know.

“He might be a sailor even.

“I call him a soldier but he might not be.”

Anyone who has information about the man in the photo is encouraged to contact Mrs Kerr on 0427 931 009 or email the society at cobdenhs@gmail.com.
