Eldridge makes team of year
CAMPERDOWN netballer Lily Eldridge has been named in the Hampden League’s 2022 Netball Team of the Year.

CAMPERDOWN netballer Lily Eldridge has been named in the Hampden League’s 2022 Netball Team of the Year.
Eldridge was named as a sub among the 11-member elite team, highlighting her remarkable season on the court.
The team of the year also featured Cobden’s Remeny McCann, Sarah Moroney and Molly Hutt; along with Carly Watson and Annie Blackburn (South Warrnambool), Maddison Vardy and Skye Billings (North Warrnambool Eagles), Isabella Baker (Koroit), Amy Wormald (Warrnambool) and Kellie Sommerville (Hamilton Kangaroos).
Cobden’s Sophie Hinkley was named coach, Will Jamison (South Warrnambool) assistant coach and Jess Davis (Terang Mortlake) team manager.
In other league awards announced last weekend, the Dot Jenkins Medal for open netballers was won by Cobden’s Remeny McCann.
Camperdown’s Krystal Baker finished a creditable 10th with 14 votes and was also named runner-up in the Miss Kit Netball MVP Award.
Other Magpies to make the leaderboard for the Dot Jenkins Medal included Lily Eldridge and Mary Place (both on 11 votes), Chelsea Baker (8), Laura Bourke and Sophie Conheady (one vote each).
The division one Tracey Baker Medal was won by Portland’s Lauren Hockley on 24 votes.
Camperdown’s Brodie Humphrey polled five votes, while team-mates Ruby Conheady (2), Emily Helmore (1), Maggie Conheady (1) and Olivia Maskell (1) also featured.
The division two award was won by Port Fairy’s Kym Goonan on 23 votes.
Camperdown’s Jessica Van den Eynde finished on five votes, while Georgia Dalton (4), Caitlyn Fitzgerald (3), Emma Giblett (1), Holly Swayn (1) and Maggie Conheady (1) also attracted votes.
The division three Simone Moloney Medal was won by Koroit’s Caitlin Blain on 29 votes.
Magpies to feature on the board included Bernadette Bellman (11), Mel Van den Eynde (5), Georgia Dalton (3), Jessica Ryan (2), Maddison McInnes (2) and Chloe Davis (1).
