Family picnic day planned
THE newly-formed Cobden Neighborhood Watch will host a family picnic day next month in a bid to promote safety and unity in the community.
Cobden Neighbourhood Watch’s Sandra Timmins said the day will be hosted at the Tandarook Botanical Gardens on Sunday, March 3 from 12-3pm.
“The Neighbourhood Watch Family Day is all about coming together as a community to ensure safety, build unity and have a blast,” she said.
“We’ll have games and food for everyone of all ages, and people are encouraged to bring their own picnic and meet others.
“Law enforcement officers will be there to answer any questions people have and provide safety tips.”
Local business 3M catering will be crafting gourmet picnic boxes which will be available for purchase if orders are placed by Wednesday, February 28.
There will also be a raffle available on the day.
The Cobden Neighbourhood Watch formed in November last year, and has a committee of around eight people.
“We wanted to make sure the community is a safe place, especially after a number of recent break ins,” Ms Timmins said.
