Fashion parade set to return

FOLLOWING on from the success of last year’s Spring Summer Fashion Parade, the Bookaar Cricket Club has once again teamed up with Vintage Gnotuk for a night of winter fashion and community.

The Winter Fashion Parade will see seven local women modelling outfits to raise funds for the Bookaar Cricket Club’s new clubrooms following their move the Camperdown Community Stadium precinct on Frederick Street.

“The Bookaar Cricket Club moved their home venue to the Camperdown Community Stadium precinct on Frederick Street, and they share that space with Camperdown Stadium, Camperdown College and Camperdown Little Athletics,” fashion organiser Kirsty Green said.

“There are no clubroom facilities at all – there’s no toilets or kitchen facilities – so they’ve been madly fundraising over the last few years to get some clubrooms set up.

“The clubrooms will have a kitchen area, a function area, changerooms for the home and away teams, toilets and showers – I think it’ll be really good because it then can become available to use for the wider community if there’s any functions.

“They’ve got the building there already – they just need to finish it off, which takes money.”

Ms Green said this year’s event, scheduled for Friday, May 8 from 6.30pm, follows the strong positive feedback from last year where many residents asked if the event would return.

“We have seven local ladies – just normal, everyday ladies – who are going to model for us,” she said.

“On the night, there will be lucky door prizes, raffles, a table quiz, a bar, tea and coffee facilities and a supper put on by the club.

“We found it was just a lovely night for ladies to catch up – after the fashion parade, the ladies hung around and caught up with their friends.

“We’re hoping to do a summer and a winter version each year, so ladies can come along and see what the latest fashions are.

“There’s a really broad view for winter fashion, age and size-wise.”

The models feature a age range from 21 to 76, with a size range from size eight to size 18.

Ms Green said everyone was welcome at the event, which will be held at the Camperdown College senior campus hall at 1 Wilson Street.

“We’re happy to have anyone and everyone come along and either get a table of 10 or come along and get seated in with a bunch of nice ladies to enjoy the night,” she said.

Tickets are $30 per person and include entry and nibbles.

Drinks are available at bar prices.
