THE Lake Bullen Merri South Beach Committee’s annual general meeting (AGM) saw the committee positions filled for another year, with interest generated for the Friends of South Beach Committee group.
Western District Newspapers reported last week the committee was encouraging residents to put their hand up to volunteer to maintain and develop the southern beach of Lake Bullen Merri through the budding new group.
President Phil Russell said all committee positions were filled at the meeting on Monday, with interest expressed for participating in the new group.
“We had one official new member on the committee, but we had three people who had expressed interest in joining the Friends of South Beach Committee group we’re trying to get going,” he said.
“It’s a little disappointing, but at least it was a couple of people who put their hand up.
“We’d still love to have people who are available as needed or as time allows them to be involved in things up there.”
Members of the Friends of South Beach Committee group can travel to the lake whenever they have spare time to perform maintenance tasks without the obligations which come with committee membership.
Anyone interested in being part of the Friends of South Beach Committee group is encouraged to contact Mr Russell on 0439 540 457.
