VOLUNTEER emergency services organisations in Western Victoria have received a funding boost to support their ongoing service to the local community as part of the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grants.
Labor Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney congratulated the recipients of the 2024-25 VESEP grants across the region which will share in more than $15 million to purchase new equipment, improve emergency response capability and support community safety.
A total of 21 grants, with a total value of nearly $905,000, have been awarded to volunteer emergency services organisations in the region.
In the south of the Corangamite Shire, the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club received $19,272 to purchase a ‘Can Am side-by-side vehicle’.
“This new equipment will make a real difference to the work that our volunteers do daily to keep our communities safe,” Ms Tierney said.
“Congratulations to the dedicated volunteer groups across Western Victoria who are receiving grants.
“Your tireless efforts in our communities are deeply appreciated.
“The Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program plays a vital role in supporting local volunteers, ensuring they have up-to-date equipment and facilities to carry our their important work.”
VESEP is an annual grants program which provides funding to Victorian emergency services volunteer groups to purchase essential operational equipment, vehicles and appliances and undertake minor facility improvements.
