Funds available for tertiary students

MOYNE Shire Council has invited students commending their first year of tertiary education to apply for support, with applications now open for the shire’s Academic Support Scholarships offering a total pool of $15,000.

The scholarships are designed to help Moyne shire-based students aged 18–25 years old take the next step in their education and contribute to building a skilled future workforce.

Mayor councillor Jordan Lockett said the initiative continued to play an important role in supporting rural students at a pivotal stage of their academic journey.

“We’ve been running this program for 28 years, helping young people from across the shire follow their education dreams,” he said.

“For many recipients, this support helps ease the financial pressures associated with study, allowing them to concentrate on achieving their goals.”

He said last year’s three successful applicants each received $5000, providing meaningful assistance as they began their studies.

Cr Lockett encouraged eligible students to apply.

“We’ve seen recipients come from a wide range of study areas, including agriculture, health, trades and the arts,” he said.

“The application process is straightforward and we encourage video or audio submissions, which really help us see who they are.”

Applications will close at 4pm on May 1, 2026.

Further details, including eligibility criteria and the application form, are available at www.moyne.vic.gov.au/AcademicSupport.
