The men’s pairs semi-finals of the club championship were pushed forward a week as the weekend pennant division two competition was played on Sunday.

A semi-final match was played between Darren Grant/Colin Goldsworthy v Paul and Tim Delaney – with the Delaney’s going through to the grand final.

They will now await the winner of the semi-final match between Dean McKenzie/John Tanner v Peter Summerhayes/Scott Pierce.

Semi-finals action will kick off at 10.30am this Sunday, with the grand final to be played in the afternoon.

Mortlake hosted a mixed triples tournament on Valentine’s Day.

Sixty players from across the district enjoyed the almost-perfect weather conditions.

At the end of four games of six ends (with one bye round in each) there was no four game winners – with nine teams on three wins.

Honourable mentions go to the equal third placed teams on +9 shots – Peter Palmer, Dianne Robertson and Max Heard; and Fred Chatfield, Maureen O’Brien and Margaret Kenna.

Runners-up for the day with three wins +14 shots were Scott Pierce, Frank Robertson and Lyn O’Shannessy.

The winners on the day with three wins and a draw were Dick Chapman, Glenys Chapman and Barry Murrell.

The lucky team of the day (that was unlucky on the green) was from Timboon – Dianne and Arthur Finch and Cherie Mungean.

A lovely Valentine’s Day shortbread was made by member, Ann Johnson.

Many thanks to the day’s sponsors, Dianne Robertson for the free roses for those lucky few, George Draffen for running the day, and to all members who helped make it a success.

After Mortlake White’s victory in the division two semi-final last week, the team lined up against City Blue at Warrnambool Bowls Club on Sunday.

The game was delayed a day due to Saturday’s total fire ban day.

On what was an extremely windy day, Mortlake White kept City Blue within arm’s reach and about half-way through, City led Mortlake for a few ends.

Mortlake White then picked up 10 shots and kept City Blue at bay, taking the win 60-52.

Colin Inverarity lost to Kaye Maddern 13-24, Paul Delaney def Don Price 27-12 and Richard Draffen def Anthony Bourke 20-16.

After a solid performance, the team is now off to the grand final.

The final selection for the season:
