Hampden netballers head to state finals
HAMPDEN Football Netball League has announced its Open netball team for the upcoming Association Championships state finals.
Late last week the league announced a squad of nine players who will represent Hampden at the one-day event, with the team featuring a strong mix of emerging youth and experienced open-age players.
The depth and diversity of talent in the region is well reflected, with six clubs contributing players to the final squad.
Open team coach Jill Leader said she is excited about what this group brings to the table.
“I’m thrilled with the large representation we’re taking to the state titles,” she said.
“It really showcases the depth of talent across our whole region.”
Leader is confident the team has the tools to adapt and thrive throughout the tournament.
“We’ve struck a great balance between exciting young talent and seasoned performers who know what it takes at this level,” she said.
“With the versatility we have across the court, we’ll be able to work through different combinations depending on the match-ups that come our way.”
The association championships provide a valuable opportunity for players to test themselves against the best across the state.
Hampden’s strong showing at the regional qualifiers has paved the way for this next challenge.
The Open squad comprises the following players:
Cobden – Lara Taylor and Macey Hicks.
Camperdown – Nell Mitchell and Rosie Pickles.
North Warrnambool – Chelsea Quinn and Addison Conheady.
Hamilton – Ella Sevior.
Port Fairy – Charlotte Crouch.
Warrnambool – Eva Ryan.
