Ideal conditions for golfers

GREAT weather, combined with a course in excellent condition, saw 13 players enjoy a stroke competition at the Terang Golf Club last Thursday.


A further 10 players enjoyed the 18-hole all day stableford while five others competed in the all-day nine hole stableford.

The winner of the stroke event was Aileen Clarke with 101-25-76, followed by Lynette Coxon 113-35-78 on a countback from Jane Heffernan.

Balls down the line went to Jane Heffernan nett 78, Elaine Hrabar 79 and Heather Holmes 79 on countback from Jenny Meade.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Margie Driscoll, 6th Marie Driscoll, 9th from off the green Elaine Hrabar and 11th Jane Heffernan.

The winner of the all-day 18 hole stableford was Riley Hutchins on 36 points, with Bernie Kenna the runner-up on 32.

Balls down the line went to Fred Beasley 31 points and Terry Coolahan, also on 31.

Nearest the pins: 6th Billy Wood, 8th Riley Hutchins.

Winner of the nine-hole all day competition was Pat Bourke on 20 points.

Next week will be the play-off for the silverspoon, 9 for 9.30 stableford, 18 hole all-day stableford and a nine hole all day stableford.

Last Saturday’s stableford saw 14 players compete.

This was won by Colin Venn (22) 34 points from runner-up Tim Keane (10) 33 points.

Balls down the line went to Geoff Campbell (30) 32, Marion Venn (13) 32 and Angelo van den Heuvel (15) 32 on countback.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Daryl Johnstone, 6th Tim Keane, 8th Angelo van den Heuvel, 11th Kerry Clarke.

Sunday’s 18-hole stableford attracted 16 players and was won by Stephen Arundell (8) 37 on countback from Josh Brown (scratch) 37.

Next week players will contest stableford on Saturday and stableford (nine or 18 holes) from 10.30am on Sunday.
