The Lions worked hard for an 8-1 victory over Creswick at Doug Lindsay Park last Sunday.

A massive six goal to nil first half set up the win.

“We were fantastic,” stand-in coach Jamie Norton said.

“It was the first time we’ve put together a true, complete performance in this competition.”

Roman Fachetti’s first half saw him kick two goals and have two goal assists; his performance impressing Norton.

“I believe Roman had the best half I’ve ever seen at a local level, he was brilliant,” Norton said.

“The link between him and Flavien (Riviere) was outstanding.”

Fachetti went on to achieve his hat-trick with a goal in the 54th minute.

Sandro Cooiman scored a brace with goals in the 28th and 42nd minutes.

Traverso Andrea scored the first for the Lions in the ninth minute of the game, with Benito Perez and Flavien Riviere also finding the back of the net.

Creswick scored its only goal in the 86th minute.

The win sees the dream of a top four spot alive for the Lions.

“It keeps us in touch; we’ve already played all the top teams twice so the draw opens up a bit,” Norton said.

“If we want to make finals we need to keep kicking plenty of goals to improve our goal difference.”

This week the sixth-placed Lions will host ninth-placed Maryborough at Scotts Creek.
