Indoor bowls action continues
AFTER a massive King’s Birthday weekend, Heytesbury Indoor bowlers had an action-packed fortnight, with round eight and nine pennant contested.
In round eight, division one matches, Timboon Lawn (Jason Mungean (s), Noah Mungean, Val Blake and Jean Clover) def. Mepunga 2 (Karl Keegan (s), Frank Harney, Gayle MacPherson and Rob McCrabb) 21-14.
Mepunga 1 (Barb Draffen (s), Helen Harney, Sally Madden and Yvonne Lenehan) def. Cobden 1 (David Childs (s), Fred Salmon, Pam Savage and Doreen Coverdale) 16-12.
Laang-Ecklin (Ken Buck (s), Rita Mungean, Max Wines and Allen Cook) lost to Mepunga 3 (Peter Neal (s), Doug Byron, Les Lenehan and Julie Shiels) 10-22.
Glenormiston 1 (Scott Pierce (s), Bec Heard, Deb Noonan and Rita Pasque) def. Camperdown 1 (Les Pearson (s), Ron Simcox, Sophie Pearson and Elizabeth Riches) 17-13.
The top four in round eight: Cobden 1, Timboon Lawn, Laang-Ecklin and Mepunga 2.
In division 2/3, Peterborough (Angela Payne (s), Graeme Murfett, Ross Wooley and Lyn Payne) lost to Glenormiston 3 (Max Heard (s), Noel Uebergang, Justin Rasmussen and Ray Bond) 11-19.
Glenormiston 2 (Deb Cheslett (s), Ron Heard, Maureen Bond and Danielle Gilchrist) drew Cobden 2 (Joyce Roberts (s), Kevin Rundle and Gerrit Bekker, Kate Walsh) 14 all.
Scotts Creek 2 (Allan Beasy (s), Louise Blair, Les Neale and Audrey Armistead) def. Scotts Creek 1 (Neville Robb (s), Trevor Hobbs, Helen Hobbs and Marlene Page) 20-11.
Mepunga 4 (Gerald Madden (s), Clarrie Matthews, Bev Byron and Ian Heatly) def. Camperdown 2 (Graeme Chamberlain (s), Norma Weller, Gordon Weller and Judy Borthwick) 28-15.

The top four this week are Glenormiston 2, Scotts Creek 2, Cobden 2, Glenormiston 3.
In VIBBA news, a few Heytesbury players went to Ballarat to play in state events.
In the singles, Lara Mungean, Brett Mungean and Arthur Finch unfortunately didn’t make it past the first round.
In mixed pairs, Max Wines and Sophie Pearson filled in for a team that didn’t turn up and despite their best efforts, did not progress to the next round.
Brett and Cherie Mungean played Allen Armistead and Jules Pollock.
The Mungeans progressed to the next round where they met the Miteranis and the Mungeans’ run ended.
In mixed fours news, Noah, Brett, Cherie and Lara Mungean played Allen Armistead, Peter Neal, Nettie Ryan and Jules Pollock and did not progress to the next round.
A reminder to all players that the HIBBA Open Fours tournament is on Sunday, July 5 and entries will close this Friday, June 26 or when full.
Lunch can be ordered in advance with your entry and lunch orders should be placed with association secretary Kathryn ASAP.
