Indoor markets set to return
THE Maker’s Market is set to return to Terang this month, breaking the bitter chill of winter while showcasing some of the region’s most talented crafters, creators and growers.
A range of delights will fill the Civic Centre in Terang from 9am to 1pm on June 20, July 11 and August 15 for this year’s calendar.
Maker’s Market coordinator Barry Wickham said it was exciting to bring the markets back for another year, having proved popular among the community since being launched in 2024.
“The concept came about because there was a reluctance in holding markets over the winter months because the chances are higher the event will be washed out,” he said.
“We decided to open up the Civic Hall and have a Maker’s Market internally.
“It’s been a great success over the past couple of years and we’re expecting the same again this year.
“It gives everyone an opportunity to browse undercover, take their time and enjoy the food stalls.”
Mr Wickham said he did not anticipate sweeping changes to a formula which has worked over the years, ensuring patrons can enjoy a wide range of stalls and foods filling the hall.
“To be honest, we aim for everything –everything you could want is there,” he said.
“A small change this year will be the Rotary Club of Terang won’t be running a barbecue out the front as we don’t want to take anything away from the stallholders.
“A point of emphasis is it all has to be made by the people there, with no imported goods or anything like that.
“It has to be constructed, grown or manufactured by the people at the stall, which gives some of the talented people in our community the chance to put themselves out there.
“We’re excited for a good turn up, and hopefully everyone can come along and make a nice day of it.”
