THE young and old alike turned out to offer a hand with a working bee at Lake Cobden recently.

Councillor Jo Beard said there were some new faces among those in attendance.

“We had some new faces, super young and older, which was certainly fantastic for the morale of those of us who have been regulars,” she said.

“Although a warm evening, the two hour blitz seemed to be appealing to others so we will definitely have another evening working bee in the coming weeks.

“Fifteen locals turned out to lend a hand on a designated area of the lake surrounds to provide some much needed love and attention.”

Cr Beard said the volunteers managed to sand and repaint the rails on the bridge and the jetty closest to the barbecue area.

“We also got lots of weeding done, especially thanks to the generous support of Greg Sambell and his mini excavator, we are so grateful he came along and helped us out with some of the harder to reach places,” she said.

“We have more painting to do and always weeding, so really would love more people to come and help out so we don’t rely on the same volunteers all the time.

“Many hands as we know make lighter work.”
