McNamara, having held numerous roles at the Cobden Football Netball Club since joining in 2006, was recently appointed to the top coaching position.

She took the club’s top grade from wooden spooners in 2015 to a grand final appearance in 2018.

Since then she has been a netball coordinator and a Gary Riselli recipient, as well as a dual premiership winning coach – leading the club’s under 17s to victory in 2022 and division one in 2023.

As a player, McNamara has exemplified the highest standards of individual excellence and leadership both on and off the court.

She has captained the Open team from 2019-2023 and has won a Dot Jenkins league medal and Ellen Darcy MVP.

Described by many as an incredible role model and mentor, McNamara combines deep netball knowledge with an ability to foster teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment in the players she coaches.

The club thanks current Open coach Sophie Hinkley for the incredible contribution she has made to the playing group and broader club in her tenure since 2020.

Her technical understanding, dedication and consistent high standards have helped maintain Cobden’s Open team as a premier team in the Hampden League.

The club expressed its gratitude for the culture of improvement and excellence Hinkley will now pass on to McNamara.
