TWO Cobden Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) volunteers were recognised for their ongoing service to the community.
Cobden unit controller Jeff Price was awarded the National Medal for more than 15 years’ diligent service and unit member Trevor Robertson received recognition for more than 10 years’ service as a VICSES volunteer.
The annual awards ceremony, which saw 20 volunteers from across the region recognised, was held in Warrnambool at the end of June.
Service awards were presented for five, 10, 15, 25, 35 and 40 years’ service.
VICSES chief executive officer Stephen Griffin and assistant chief officer south west region Alistair Drayton presented the awards.
“It is a great opportunity to recognise the tireless efforts of our volunteers and acknowledge the sacrifices they and their families make to support their community in times of need,” Mr Drayton said.
“We will be holding a second awards ceremony in Geelong to recognise volunteers at that end of our region.”
Volunteers from Camperdown and Lismore VICSES units also attended the awards ceremony.
