Crime wave: Police are seeking information for a series of alleged burglaries last Thursday, including the theft of a burnt-out Mitsubishi Triton.

The spree saw offenders allegedly break into a service station in Mortlake, the Metro Petroleum service station in Derrinallum, the Derrinallum Foodworks, Lismore’s Hewett and Whitty store and the BP service station in Lismore.

Warrnambool Police Detective Acting Sergeant Derek Verity said police allege the offenders gained entry to all affected businesses by smashing through the front door.

“At this stage, we’re unaware of any items that were stolen (from Hewett and Whitty),” he said.

“They’ve gone for the cash tin, but there was no cash secured there.

“Then we’ve got a burglary at the BP in Lismore at the same time of night.

“They’ve stolen cash, believed to have been about $1000.”

Det Act Sgt Verity said it was unclear to police what was stolen from the Metro Petroleum service station in Derrinallum, and the Derrinallum Foodworks was also targeted around the same time.

“They’ve attended there and gained access by the same way,” he said.

“They stole a cash register and about $15. The Mortlake one - they’ve smashed the front door and stolen an unknown quantity of cigarettes.

“There are some stolen vehicles involved – one was a Mitsubishi Triton, which was depicted on the CCTV.’’

The Triton was found by police on Lake Bullen Merri Road, but was torched.

Det Act Sgt Verity is calling on residents with any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at crimestoppers.com.au.

“Anyone with any information can contact Crime Stoppers, whether that’s ringing them or anonymously,” he said.

“Any information would be appreciated.”
