Police warn against drink driving

POLICE are calling on drivers to rethink getting behind the wheel following a night out after intercepting a drink driver.

Camperdown Police First Constable Benjamin Curtis said police intercepted a 33-year-old Camperdown man on Bowen Street at 9pm on Thursday, May 28.

“Police discovered that the man was unlicensed,” he said.

“The male returned a positive breath test of 0.07 and was released pending summons.”

Those caught driving over the legal breath alcohol concentration (BAC) limit of 0.05, or zero for learner and probationary drivers, can face fines, licence loss and even jail time depending on the seriousness of the offence.

Additionally, drivers caught driving unlicensed can face fines, disqualification from applying for a licence, vehicle impounding and jail time.
