Pressure on leading Bulls
WITH three rounds left to play before finals, Corangamite volley is heading towards an interesting finish.
Freeballers were leading the table only two rounds ago but an ordinary night and then a bye now sees them back in fourth place.
It will be interesting to see if the young team can re-group and launch a serious attack on the autumn premiership.
As they have done in past seasons, Cooriemungle Bulls hold top stop in the lead-up to finals but they have not always taken the honours.
The Bulls have only been beaten once to this point but will start feeling the pressure that the hunted always has to deal with.
NOBTS and Poachers are perennial finalists and, on their night, can produce top-class volleyball.
NOBTS appears to be more consistent and are likely to be the biggest dangers to the Bulls.
Cowgirls, Champs and Ballbuster will probably battle it out for the B grade premiership unless Freeballers continue their free-fall and tumble into the lower division.
The improving Cowgirls are playing solid volleyball and could easily replace them if the opportunity presents.
The match of round six was the Bulls versus Poachers clash.
The teams shared the first two games before taking the third game to 16-15 when the bell rang, ending in a one-all draw.
Poachers did score a 2-1 win over NOBTS in another typically close match between the long-time opponents.
The winners were steadier in the third game, taking it 15-12.
