Quilt show sees strong crowds
CAMPERDOWN’S St Paul’s Anglican Church was filled with a variety of hand-made quilters over the weekend at the Camperdown Clocktower Quilters’ quilt show.
Strong crowds were able to flow through both the hall and the church to view the 40 quilts on display, all made by group members.
Camperdown Clocktower Quilters secretary and treasurer Carol Wilson said it proved to be a successful show.
“Father Matthew Jones was very good and let us put the quilts in the church – it was his idea,” she said.
“People came into the hall, had a look around and then went over to the church to have a look.
“Saturday was very busy, but Sunday wasn’t quite as busy.
“We would have had around 80 through on Saturday and around 40 on the Sunday, which was very good.
“There were some beautiful quilts on display.”

In the lead-up to the quilt show, a raffle was run by the Clocktower Quilters, raising close to $2000 over the course of two months.
The main prize winner was Sue Darcy, with Sharon Johnson and Bruce Turner taking home second and third prizes respectively.
Ms Wilson said she was pleased with the amount of positive feedback received from attendees.
“It was amazing,” she said.
“People were thrilled with it, so it was very good.
“I was told by a couple of people they thought it was the best show we’d had.”
