Rainfall remains low
WHILE May delivered some much-needed rainfall to the region, recorded rainfall remained low across the board throughout the month.
A total of 58.8mm of rain was recorded over Cobden in May, falling short of the 81.3mm long-term average recorded over the same period.
This year fared better than last, however, when only 30.8mm of rainfall was recorded over Cobden in May 2025.
The result brings the year to date tally of rainfall to 172mm, far below the 275.6mm long-term average recorded over the same period.
The result was far better than the 107mm total recorded by the same time last year, however.
While on most days in May there was little to no rainfall recorded, Cobden was taken for a spin on May 17 when 19.6mm of rain fell over the region.
Other days of significant rainfall included May 7 with 8mm and May 5 with 11.6mm.
More consistent rainfall will be needed to break through the region’s current drought conditions.
