Raising awareness on gendered violence
A STRONG crowd attended a speaking session with ex-footballer Phil Cleary last week, who spoke about the importance of ending violence against women.

Mr Cleary lost his 25-year-old sister at the hands of her violent ex-boyfriend, which inspired his campaign.
A Corangamite Shire Council spokesperson said the event, funded by the Victorian Government’s Free from Violence local government program, aimed to raise awareness within the community.
“Around 60 people attended a recent Corangamite Shire event on ending gendered violence with guest speaker Phil Cleary,” the spokesperson said.
“The event brought together attendees from across the shire, including community groups and local residents.
“Feedback was very positive, with a strong question and answer session and discussion at the conclusion.
“A number of residents approached organisers afterwards to ask about next steps and expressed interest in becoming involved in future awareness raising events and activities.”
