Rams dominate Swans

CARAMUT’S senior footballers had a 18.17.125 to 6.9.45 loss to Glenthompson/Dunkeld at Caramut on Saturday.

An even first quarter saw the Swans trail by a point at the first break, before the Rams asserted their dominance.

“We really should have been in front at quarter time but we didn’t make the most of our chances in the first quarter,” lamented Caramut coach Scott Judd.

“They came out with a high intensity in the second quarter which we struggled to match.”

Judd was happy with how Caramut finished the game, with the Swans kicking three last quarter goals.

“We’ve been good in most last quarters whether we’ve been in contention or not.

“It is pleasing that we have the fitness to run out games.”

Joel Harriss and Jarvis Bermingham were best for Caramut.

“Joel got into the team earlier in the year, he’s been really good around the contest at half back,” Judd said.

“Jarvis has been consistently good, he’s proving himself as one of the very good ruckmen in the competition.”

Judd led the goal kickers for Caramut with three in his return from injury.

“It was nice to get on the scoreboard coming back from a hamstring injury, and good to get through the game.”

This week Caramut heads to Tatyoon to take on the Hawks.

“The challenge for us now this season is to win a few more and show how far we’ve come,” Judd said.

Glenthompson/Dunkeld were too strong in the reserves, scoring a 9.12.66 to 5.2.32 win.

Liam Fisher, Lachlan Purcell and Roha Allen were best for Caramut, with Willem Douglas kicking two goals.

Caramut’s under 16.5 team had its first loss of the season, going down 6.6.42 to 5.1.31.

Carl Lehmann, Bailey Moloney and Samual O’Sullivan were best for the junior Swans, who retain top place on the ladder by percentage from Glenthompson/Dunkeld.

Glenthompson/Dunkeld were dominant in the A grade netball, registering a 54-19 win.

Charlotte van der Starre and Maddi Calvert were best for the A grade Swans, with Chloe Anderson scoring nine goals.

The B grade netball saw Glenthompson/Dunkeld run out 36-27 winners.

Yolie O’Sullivan and Maddison Higginson were Caramut’s best, O’Sullivan shooting 21 goals.

A 22-goal game from Rachel Hassett led the C grade Swans to a 25-19 win.

Twenty-one goals in a best on court performance from Emilie Tonissen led Caramut to a 32-29 win in the 18 and under netball.

In the 15 and under netball, Glenthompson/Dunkeld had a 34-21 win.

Yolie O’Sullivan and Grace O’Sullivan were best for the under 15 Swans.

Caramut had a strong 26-8 win in the 13 and under game.

Alex Lehmann and Ruby-Jean Jennings-Richardson were best for the junior Swans; Lehmann scoring with 17 goals and Payson Walker nine.
