Ready for the running of the cup
TERANG and District Racing Club is gearing up for the biggest two weeks of its racing season at bet365 Terang Racecourse.

This Sunday, April 12, will see the running of the $75,000 Sungold Milk Terang Cup.
Club president Janice Harris said the annual cup meeting is a day of quality country racing with many past winners of the Terang Cup heading to the listed Warrnambool Cup.
“All indications are that this year will not be any different, with $400,000 in prize money on offer across the eight races on the day,” she said.
“This year also sees the introduction of a new initiative featuring the two local football and netball clubs, Kolora-Noorat and Terang-Mortlake, with the running of the bet365 Rivalry Relay with $1000 going to the winner.
“This is a novel way of building further community support for the clubs at an event that is already being held in the town, and the racing club was delighted to be able to support the local clubs.
“Thanks to the support of the National Centre for Farmer Health the club is also providing a free barbecue for members of both clubs that attend the event and any other farmers who register prior to the race meeting.
“Kids inflatable rides, face painting and live music will also be available on the day.”

Ms Harris said the club was delighted to be able to provide a day of racing, activities and entertainment for the local community, with the gates to open at 11.30am and the first race scheduled for 12.30pm.
“Any farmers or farming families that wish to register to attend the event including the free barbecue lunch need to register prior to Friday, April 10 by 2pm by contacting the club on 0400 557 625,” she said.
“The TAB will be operating on the day along with bookmakers, ice cream, coffee, bars, dining room meals and takeaway food.”
The following weekend will see the Super Jumps Day held on April 19.
“This day will be the major lead in jumps meeting to the Warrnambool May Carnival jumps races,” Ms Harris said.
“The club members are delighted to be entrusted with running such a prestigious meeting which will host some quality jumps races on the day.
“For all the jumping enthusiasts in the south west, this is the day to come along and see the quality that will be on offer for the 2026 jumping season.
“Gates open at 11.30am for this meeting as well.”
