Round five loss for Cats
MORTLAKE was unable to defend 198 on day two of its match against West Warrnambool at the DC Farran Oval.

In the round five Warrnambool Moyne District CA clash, the Panthers passed the home team’s score five wickets down, batting out the day to finish on 5/237 from 80 overs.
West Warrnambool captain Joe Nyikos, and vice-captain Ben Threlfall, with 89 not out from 136 balls, led the way for the visitors in their win.
Todd Lamont led the home team’s bowling with 3/52 from 21 overs, with Craig Britten and Damien Goddard taking a wicket each.
This week Mortlake will be at home again as they start a two day match against Port Fairy at the DC Farran Oval.
In the championship division, Mortlake had an outright loss in its match against Allansford-Panmure at Panmure.
After being bowled out for just 41 on day one, Mortlake did well to bowl the home team out for 114.
Brendan Gherashe led the Mortlake bowlers with 3/9 from four overs.
In its second innings, Mortlake was dismissed for 99, with Sam Wareham top scoring with 22 from 81 balls.
Allansford-Panmure wiped off the deficit in six overs, scoring a 10 wicket outright win.
This week the Mortlake championship team start a two day game against Hawkesdale at Mortlake College.
The division three Cats had the bye.
They return to action this week against Nirranda at the Killarney Recreation Reserve.
On Sunday, Mortlake’s women had a heavy defeat to Allansford-Panmure at the Mortlake College Oval.
Batting first, Mortlake was dismissed for 58 in 23 overs.
Annalise Abbott was the only player to reach double figures with 15.
In reply the Gators women scored 3/135 from their 25 overs.
Audrey Ringe, with 1/15 from four overs, was the best of the Mortlake bowlers.
This Sunday the Mortlake women play North Warrnambool at Bushfield.
In the under 17s, Mortlake-Cobden had an 18 run win over Hawkesdale at Hawkesdale on Tuesday night.
Co-captain Sonny Podger top scored with 25 from 38 balls in Mortlake-Cobden’s innings of 9/82 from 24 overs.
In reply Hawkesdale was dismissed for 64 in the 24th over.
Lenny Walsh and Jobe Baker took four wickets each, with figures of 4/17 from 4.3 overs and 4/9 from five overs respectively.
Podger was also impressive with his off breaks, taking 1/7 from five economical overs.
This Tuesday Mortlake-Cobden start a two day match against Nestles-Northern Raiders at Mortlake College.
In the under 15s on Friday night, Mortlake-Cobden, defending the 5/215 they made on day one, registered a 145 run win over Noorat Terang.
The Lions made 9/70 from 32.5 overs.
Leo Slater took 3/6 from 2.5 overs, with Alby Jones and Cruz Lamont taking two wickets each.
This Friday Mortlake-Cobden start its next two day match against Russells Creek at Mortlake College.
