RSL day on the greens
LOCAL golfers enjoyed fine weather and good results at Mortlake Golf Club’s RSL Day last Saturday.
Twenty-eight players tackled the course throughout the day.
The 18-hole A grade (60 years and over) was won by Garry Shalders on 40 points while the B grade event was won by Merv Hampson, 31 on countback.
Richard Van Diemen (18) 37 points won A grade over 18 holes while Jordan Wareham (19) 35 points was the B grade winner.
The 18-hole competition for ex servicemen was won by Tony Richardson (13) 34 points on countback.
The women’s competition was won by Georgia Wareham (18) on 36 points and the non-golfers winner was Frank Meade on 109.
Nearest the pins: 3/12 Garry Shalders, 6/15 Wes Wareham and 9/18 Slade Palmer.
Balls down the line went to Wes Wareham, Kurt Robertson, Slade Palmer, Peter Palmer, Steve Hubbard, James Gill, Aaron Davies and Alistair Clarke.
The eagles nest on the fifth hole was won by Slade Palmer.
