Coxon will lead the reigning premiers for a sixth straight season after also leading the team to the 2023/24 flag.

“It’s a huge honour and something I never take for granted,” Coxon said.

“The way the club supports its women’s program makes the captaincy a very enjoyable role.”

Keeping the successful group together and continuing the enjoyment of the game are priorities for Coxon.

“I said it at the presentation night after last season, but 2025/26 was the most enjoyable of the six seasons we’ve had so far.

“The group gelled unbelievably well, we had a couple of new players who added enormous energy to the group and we just had so much fun.”

Star all-rounder Jess Moulden has also been reappointed as vice-captain.

“Jess is great to work with on the field and a fantastic support.

“She keeps taking her game to the next level.”

Coxon is currently trying her hand at a new sport, playing soccer for the Corangamite Lions, kicking her first goal on the weekend.

“Lenise Mantell and Kaitlyn Ward, who played in our cricket premiership team last year in their first season of cricket, encouraged me to give it a go and I’m loving it.

“Like Pomborneit, there’s an awesome vibe at the Lions, it was a huge thrill to score on Sunday, hopefully I can kick a few more.”

The Pomborneit women will kick off pre-season training at the same time as the men with an indoor session on August 5.
